I know you have worked hard to make sure everything goes well in your session. From picking out outfits, to doing hair, to running around the house to make sure your kiddo(s) have their shoes on, to making sure your shoes match and I want to assure you that you are doing great! Breathe, I’ve got you covered. Below are a few tips and tricks to make sure that you and your family have a great session.
1. Sleep & food- Make sure little ones nap (normal nap time is fine) and have a full belly prior to the session. I know I get grumpy when I am hangry, it’s only natural for them to feel the same way.
2. Stay hydrated- Bring some refreshments for you and the children! Being outside whether in the heat or cold can be exhausting and sometimes we need a little hydration.
3. Snacks & treats- I know you’re wondering, but why snacks if they’ve already eaten? As a parent myself, I cannot deny the power of an m&m or goldfish! This will be a great “prize” for them during or after the session so they can feel more motivated to want to participate. Win win!
4. Toys- Bring little Sally’s favorite toy to help ease the transition from pose to pose. We can even use it as a prop for the session if things are going to plan.
5. Talk- I encourage you to speak with little Sally and Billy that we are going to have family photos prior to the actual session so they are aware of what is going to happen and how important it is to mommy and daddy. It makes the session go a little smoother when the children are aware of what is going to happen before it actually happens!
